Random Fact of the Day: A survey was done on hundreds of Oreo cookie eaters.  It found the way you eat an Oreo says something about your personality.  Biters are easy-going and self-confident.  Dunkers are more energetic and adventurous.  Twisters are sensitive and trendy.

Friday hot lunch – The 7th/8th grades are selling Casey’s pizza this Friday for lunch.  Meal includes one slice of pizza, chips, and ice cream for $3.00.  Additional slices can be purchased for $2 per slice (without the meal).  Order forms will be sent home with students today.  Please return them by the end of the day TODAY!! 

For 7th-12th Grade Students:

Lunch Times for today:  12:40 p.m. – junior high; 12:41 p.m. – seniors; 12:42 p.m. – juniors; 12:43 p.m. – freshmen/sophomores

Friday Lunch Room Duty:  SENIORS – after lunch you will clean tables, check microwaves, close the milk cooler, and empty the trash.

Friday 6th hr:  BAND

7th-12th grades Tis the season for giving! Whichever class brings in the most dollars’ worth of items and/or cash WINS!   We have made the shopping easy for you . . . links for accepted items can be found  here. The winning class will take a trip to the Project Ignite Light warehouse in ND to help pack the bags of hope!

If you bring in items for the Christmas Giving Project, please bring them to your first hour teacher – seniors yours go to Mrs. DeHaan’s room. 

Student Council – tomorrow whoever is not in band will tally the items that have been brought in.  Get the totals to Shauna when you are done counting

7th-12th Chapel: This Thursday is our next Senior chapel presented by Kennedy. Please pray for her as she makes final plans.

It’s beginning to look A LOT like Christmas, everywhere you go! Keep decorating your halls and advisor class rooms.  Judging will be Monday!

Reminder – if you borrow supplies/tools to decorate with (scissors, tape, markers, etc.) be sure to return it to its proper place as soon as you are done using it so the owner of said borrowed item does not need to search for it!  Like a good neighbor . . .

1st semester exam schedule was emailed out.  Copies are posted by the menu board and the office.  On Wednesday, EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO BE HERE FROM 12:10-12:59 to take down Christmas decorations and make sure everything is put back in its proper place.  

7th/8th grades have art today.

Christmas Concert is TOMORROW.  Dress Code is as follows:

Acceptable attire for girls:

dresses/skirts (must be in line with DCS dress code; consider length when you are sitting! Please consider wearing leggings/tights underneath as well)

Dress pants (black or khaki) and dress top (blouse, dress cardigan, etc.)

Dress shoes

Scarves/accessories are fine

Acceptable attire for boys:

Dress pants (black or khaki) and dress top (dress polo is okay, button up/suit shirt is better, ties are great)

Suits are good too!

Jeans, sweatpants, leggings (unless under a dress/skirt)

T-shirts

Basketball players – when you come to school tomorrow be sure you bring your concert attire and some food for dinner/supper.  There will not be time to go home in between practice and the concert.

For Preschool-6th Grade Students:

Lunch Times:  11:40 a.m. – preschool; 11:45 a.m. – kindergarten;  11:50 a.m. – 1st/2nd grades; 11:55 p.m. – 3rd/4th grades; 12:00 p.m. – 5th/6th grades

The following owe for band dues:  Kora B $16 (reeds and El. Honor Choir), Tristan $12 (El. Honor Choir) Cost rising $1 per day!

Friday 5th/6th Music: BAND

Penny war standings:

First place – Kindergarten with -$6.02

Second place – Preschool with -$19.42

Third place – 3rd/4th with -$37.92

Fourth place – 5th/6th with -$50.37

Fifth place – 1st/2nd with -$50.37

Penny war continues until next Friday (Dec. 9) so keep scrounging, digging, and begging for that change! (So far we have raised $242.89!)

Consider helping us support Project Ignite Light, an organization dedicated to providing important essentials to children who have been abused, neglected, or trafficked through their bags of hope. Each bag of hope is filled with pajamas, personal hygiene items, fleece tie blankets, flashlights, books, and a gift to be given to children in some of their darkest moments. We have made the shopping easy for you . . . links for accepted items can be found  here. Click, add to cart, and GIVE!  So easy, SO EASY.  Donations (cash or items) can be brought to DCS any time before Dec. 9.

We invite you to join us this Thursday for the Preschool – 12th grade Christmas Concert beginning at 7:00 p.m.

We will not be doing the big buddy/little buddy Christmas gift exchange this year.

First semester exams will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, Wednesday, Dec. 21, and Thursday, Dec. 22.  The exam schedule was emailed to 7th-12th grade parents and students.  If other elementary families rely on you or your child for transportation please inform them of the days/times that you will not be at school so they can make other arrangements depending on the exam schedule.
