It is hard to believe that August is almost upon us and another school year is about to begin. We are looking forward to another exciting year here at Dakota Christian School! We hope that your summer has been relaxing and rejuvenating as we gear up for school to start!
Our theme for this year is “Expect More.” Our theme verse comes from Ephesians 3:20-21 – “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Our God is omnipotent (all powerful), and he is sovereign. He controls all things, sees all things, and lives within us! Our tendency is to put God in a box, and by doing so, we limit what he can do. He can do anything, and we are his people! While we need to expect more from ourselves and our students, we also do not want to limit God. We can expect great and powerful things from him! We will be looking at various passages throughout the Old and New Testaments during the year to further solidify this theme.
The intent of this letter is to inform you of registration times for the 2016-2017 school year. Registration will be Monday, August 8th from 11:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and Wednesday, August 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please come to the office and Mrs. Vander Pol or I will be glad to register your student(s) at that time. If, for some reason, none of these times works for you, please call the office and set up a time to meet with Mrs. Vander Pol or myself. We look forward to seeing you!
An open house will be held on Thursday, August 20th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The teachers will be at school during this time. Please come with any questions you might have. This will be a time for all students to bring in school supplies, for 7th-12th students to sign up for lockers, and 9th-12th grade students to discuss their class schedule with Mrs. Veurink.
