Another school year is quickly approaching! I hope that you’ve had a great summer – I know I have! I hope you have had the opportunity to travel some, to visit friends and family, and to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunshine!
As teachers and staff members begin preparations for the school year, we ask that you register your child(ren) as quickly as possible. This makes everything for teachers and the office much easier! If you are a returning family, you should have received an email from TADS with instructions for enrolling your child(ren) for the 2021-2022 school year. If you are a new family, you need to apply via the TADS admissions process. Check the DCS Facebook page for more instructions, or call the office with questions. Any returning family with a new student attending will just need to “create” a new student in their existing household on TADS.
Our theme for this year is “Beauty for Ashes.” The theme verse comes from Isaiah 61:1-3. Verse three says, “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” This is a beautiful promise of what the gospel is. Our dirty, broken lives are given up to the Lord, and in exchange, we receive the beauty and majesty of the Lord! This trade makes no sense in the world’s eyes, but in the Lord’s wisdom, we know this to be an eternal truth.
We are planning a back-to-school kick-off for Thursday, August 12th. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., students may bring in their school supplies, meet their teachers, and 7th-12th grade students can choose their locker. Schedules for secondary students will also be available. At 6:30 p.m. we will head outside for walking tacos and other treats. We encourage you to stick around, meet the new staff members, and socialize with other DCS families. We will have some games available as well! Please come with any questions you might have.
We look forward to seeing you during the back-to-school kick-off!
