Description:

 

Accounting I is a very practical course that helps

students learn the basics of keeping financial records

for personal and business use.  The course begins with

proprietorship accounting and advances to partnerships,

merchandising businesses, and corporate accounting.

It includes investments and interest, loans, depreciation,

taxes, and inventory control.  The book introduces the

accounting concepts manually and then applies that

knowledge to automated accounting.  This class will

benefit all students and help them make wise financial

decisions to become better stewards of the resources

God has given us.

 

Materials:  Century 21 Accounting, First Year Course,

textbook and workbook, South-Western Pub.

Major Projects:  Viking Marine Business Simulation for

a merchandising business.

Daily Work:  Terms and workbook problems

Tests:  Objective and Problem Tests

Final Grade:  Total points for all daily and test grades

 

 

ACCOUNTING II

 

Elective:  Seniors

Length:  One semester

Offered:  Every Year

Description:

 

Students who enjoyed accounting I will want to take

advanced  accounting.  The class begins by reviewing the

automated accounting used in the first year course, then

builds on this knowledge, moving on to departmentalized

accounting, accounting control systems, general accounting

adjustments for depreciation and notes, and more detailed

corporate accounting.  It words with more advanced

automated accounting and spreadsheets.  This is an

excellent course for those interested in the field of

business or accounting.

textbook and workbook, South-Western Pub.

Daily work:  Workbook problems

Tests:  Objective and problem tests

Final Grade:  Total points for all daily and test grades

 

BUSINESS LAW

 

Elective:  Seniors

Length:  One semester

Offered:  Every year

Description:

 

Business law affects each of us on a daily basis and learning about

our responsibilities and rights as Christian citizens are one of the

goals of the course. Subjects covered include criminal justice, civil

justice, contract laws and rights, sales contracts, credit, investments,

product liability and consumerism.  There are several case studies,

and if opportunity allows, a class trip to visit a local trial involving

a criminal or civil case.

 

Materials:  Business Law, Second Edition, Houghton Mifflin textbook

Daily Work:  Business Simulation “Court Square Community Bank”,

current legal events, class notes and discussion

Testing:  Chapter tests

Final Grade:  Total points
